PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Korean War Veterans Legislation to be Introduced on 57th Anniversary of the Start of the War

SEOUL, ROK (June 24, 2007) The National President of the Korean War Veterans Association of the USA, Louis Dechert today announced in Seoul, Korea that on June 25, 2007, the 57th anniversary of the commencement of the war in Korea, Bills will be introduced in Congress to authorize a Federal Charter for the Korean War Veterans Association, Inc.

The House Bill will be jointly introduced in the House by Steny Hoyer, (D-MD) and Samuel Johnson (R-TX). In the Senate, The Bill will be introduced by Ben Cardin, (D-MD). It is the sincere expectation of the KWVA that the legislation will quickly pass both Houses of Congress allowing the Korean War Veterans Association to join the ranks of Federally Chartered Veteran Service Organizations.

This is the moment in time for all members of the KWVA to contact their Representatives and Senators to urge them to sign-on as Co-Sponsors of this legislation.  (Contact information for Members of the US Congress is available at this website:
http://www.congress.org/congressorg/issues/basics/ ).

The Bill numbers will become known on the 25th and will be posted at www.kwva.org, the organization’s website. Please join me in assisting our Legislative Co-Directors, Mr. Ed Buckman and Mr. Robert Banker, in their efforts to secure passage of this long over-due legislation.

Thank you.

National President, KWVA/USA
Chairman of the Board
