Letter Sent to Representative Sensenbrenner via Mail and Fax by KWVA Pres. Dechert on 7/5/06

July 5, 2006

The Honorable F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr.
US Representative
Chairman, Committee on the Judiciary
2138 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Mr. Sensenbrenner,

Korea is back on Front Pages and on the cable tubes. Korea will be an election issue this October and November.

The War on the Korean Peninsula is still going on, just one missile away from being a white hot regional conflagration. It is simply inexplicable and unacceptable that veterans of war and defense in Korea, a group with a National Memorial on the Mall, a group representing American success on the battlefield, a group which is a dedicated leader in the worldwide International Federation of Korean War Veterans Associations, and a group that donates millions of man years a year in volunteer work for the Veterans Administration is still denied a Federal Charter by the “peoples’ house.”

There are reasons which may be cited by the North Koreans for their actions—there are no valid reasons which may be cited for the refusal of The Congress to recognize the veterans of Korea.

I urge the Committee on the Judiciary to act as virtually all Americans expect them to act in this matter. There are no reasons for doing otherwise.

Sincerely,

Louis T Dechert
National President, KWVA/US
