Korea Veterans President Announces Support of The Military Order of The Purple Heart for Federal Charter Bills

CAMP BEAUREGARD, LA (July 18, 2007) President Louis Dechert, Korean War Veterans Association, USA, today announced that the Military Order of the Purple Heart of the USA, is again supporting the efforts of the KWVA to obtain a Federal Charter.

On June 25, 2007, H.B. 2852 and S. 1692 were introduced in the 1st Session, 110th Congress.

The H.B. 2852 was sponsored by Representative Steny H Hoyer, D, Md.  S. 1692 was sponsored by Senator Benjamin L Cardin, D, Md.

Dechert noted that the Purple Heart had also supported efforts of the KWVA in the 109th Congress and expressed official appreciation to Patriot National Commander Thomas A Poulter of the MOPH for the steady support from America’s only organization of Combat Wounded Veterans. Many KWVA members are Combat Wounded Veterans, and many MOPH members are Combat Wounded Veterans from Korea. The two organizations have enjoyed close fraternal relations since 2004.

President Dechert also expressed his appreciation to the Honorable Hershel Gober, former Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs in the second Clinton Administration and presently the MOPH Legislative Director for his care and assistance.

Dechert noted that this year is the 75th Birthday for the MOPH and offered the congratulations of the KWVA.
