TO: All Members - KWVA
On behalf of the National President, the following information is provided:
The Federal Department of Veterans Affairs will begin commemorating its 75th Anniversary of service with
a kickoff event at Constitution Hall, just blocks from the White House, on July 21, 2005.
On July 21, 1930, President Herbert Hoover signed Executive Order 5398, officially creating the
Department. For decades Veterans Service Organizations, such as we are planning to become, have been the
backbone of the VA and have constantly partnered with the VA to ensure that America never leaves behind
those that served.
The President of the United States has been invited to honor this occasion with his presence and delivery
of the keynote address. Furthermore, it is intended to recognize veterans from each branch of service, as
well as each conflict in which American men and women were called into combat.
This is an opportunity, not just for the KWVA members in the Washington area, but also from all over the
county. Particularly KWVA members from Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania and other
areas may be interested in coming. We are looking for at least 100 KWVA members to attend, wearing
appropriate caps, uniforms, and/or blazers.
It is anticipated that guests will need to arrive between 7a.m. - 9 a.m. and everyone being seated no
later than 9 a.m. Early arrival is encouraged.
You must follow this procedure for tickets:
Email the KWVA Webmaster providing First Name, Last Name, Name of Organization
(KWVA Chapter Name/Number) for each attending person. If there are any requirements for
Disabled or Hearing Impaired Seating, please specify in your email request.
NOTE: Your sign-up information requesting tickets must be
received
NO LATER than 11pm Monday July 11, 2005.
(If you have a problem sending email, you may phone Webmaster
Jim Doppelhammer on his Cell (217-512-9474) between 8:00am and 11:00pm CDT between now and July 10... He
is coordinating the information for return to me.)
Thank you, as always, for your service and your dedication to the KWVA and our veterans. With your strong
support and partnership we will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all other Veterans Organizations and have a
successful and meaningful 75th Anniversary opening ceremony.
It is requested that all interested forward this information to as many other members as possible. Also,
the Webmaster is requested to appropriately post this message for the information. Additional information
will be forthcoming as soon as it is available.
Thanks and regards,
Charley D, Price, VSO Programs Director
