The points of contact for to coordinate the bus support for Memorial Day, Monday May 29, 2017 for the KWVA Chapters are as follows:

Details:

  1. Busses should arrive no later than 11:30AM on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel Parking lot, 900 South Orme Street. Arlington, VA 22204 . Bus Captains. Please place a sign placard in your bus window with your Chapter Number and Town. This will enable members of your party to get back on the same bus at the end of the day.
     
  2. If for some reason, a bus gets delayed on route to the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel and misses the departure time of 12:40PM from the Pentagon City Hotel, please go directly to 7th and Independence Avenue to meet up with the other busses. If your bus is running late, please inform Jim Fisher by calling him at 704-740-7596
     
  3. Bus parking placards will be handed out at the Sheraton National Hotel.
     
  4. At the Hotel, each Korean War Veteran will receive a box of snacks and water to drink. Restroom facilities will be located in the hotel.
     
  5. At 12:40PM all busses will convoy to the marshalling point located on 7th and Independence Avenue, Washington, DC where Korean War Veterans will disembark the bus and be assigned to a military vehicle.
     
  6. The parade starts at 2:00PM sharp.
     
  7. Once all Korean War Veterans have been assigned a military vehicle, the busses will depart 7th and Independence Avenue and proceed to Ohio Drive to park. BUS CAPTAINS: PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE YOUR DRIVERS CELL PHONE NUMBER AND THAT HE HAS YOUR CONTACT NUMBER.
     
  8. We will be in AREA 2. Our slot number is #83 which is located on Jefferson Dive., behind the Air and Space Museum. - See attached map.
     
  9. There will be 6 Porta-Johns located at the corner of 7th and Jefferson Avenue for the veterans use.
     
  10. Our Area Managers are Jacqueline Loro and Courtney Beard.
     
  11. The Parade route is one mile in length. The route ends at 17th Street in Washington, DC.
     
  12. Uniform for Korean War Veterans: Summer uniform, White short sleeve shirt, black pants, black shoes, cap, ribbons and pins allowed on uniforms.
     
  13. Helpful hints:
     
    1. Bring sun screen
    2. Wear sun glasses
    3. Eat a good breakfast
    4. Dress appropriately for the weather
    5. Drink PLENTY of Water
    6. Bring any necessary medication you are taking and let your buddy know what you have and where it is.
       
  14. Once you reach the end of the parade route, stay in your military vehicles. They will be taking you to the Korean War Veterans Memorial for participation in the "Memorial Day Remembrance" ceremony at the Korean War Veterans Memorial. Water will be located on site.
     
  15. Rest Rooms are located on the basement floor of the Lincoln Memorial. The entrance to the restrooms on located in the front of the south side of the Memorial. Recommend you use the facilities prior to the ceremony.
     
  16. Once the ceremony is completed, the bus captains will call their bus drivers and have them pick up the veterans and any family members on Daniel French Drive which is adjacent to the Korean War Veterans Memorial.
     
  17. MOST IMPORTANT: Korean War Veterans are not allowed to flirt with the young Korean models!!!!!
