Mr. Harmon was born in Lexington, S.C., a son of the late George Lee Harmon Sr. and Catherine Ann Harmon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert T. Byrne officiating. Entombment will follow at Southlawn Mausoleum with full military honors. He had been a resident of Aiken since 1957 and was employed as an engineer with E.I. DuPont at SRS. He served in the Navy during WWII and Korea and retired as a U.S. Naval captain. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Korean Chapter 255, Naval Reserve Officers Association, Korean War Veterans Association, VFW and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Retha Black Harmon; two daughters, Melinda Gay Harmon of Charleston and Cindy (Ted) Groomes of Aiken; one son, Michael W. Harmon of Aiken; one grandchild, Sela McGee Groomes; one sister, Betty Harmon Powell of Lexington; and one brother, George Lee Harmon Jr. of Lexington.
