DECEMBER ON THE HAN RIVER, REPUBLIC OF KOREA

All who have served on the Korean Peninsula remember the cold winters. More recent soldiers will also remember modern Korean scenes like this one taken December 18, 2005. Old Soldiers might ask what part of the Chicago or a Canadian metropolitan area is this?! It is modern Korea, friends, created by the Korean people, enabled by over 55 years of Americans "soldiering" in that great nation. Thank you, my friends and comrades in battle, and Merry Christmas!

Today...

Snow piles up on the ice of the frozen Han River, central Seoul, Sunday. Morning lows in Seoul were minus 14 degrees Celsius, and some parts of the Han River were frozen over for the first time of the season.

"Back then"...

Refugees streaming across the frozen Han River on the ice as they flee southward before the advancing tide of Red Chinese and North Korea Communists. Shattered bridges are shown in the background.
